Traffic signs come in all shapes, sizes and colours. While we may be inclined to believe that road signs are synonymous with red, yellow and green, that is just the tip of the iceberg. The stop, watch and go signs are taught to us in our lower primary textbooks, and as we take to driving, we understand the one-way, no parking and no U-turn signs as well.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, anyone who has recently taken the online test to get a driver\u2019s licence will tell you how perplexed they felt when asked about road signs. So what are these road signs that we have never noticed or read about? Here\u2019s a list of the 10 least identifiable road signs that you may not have seen or heard of before.<\/span><\/p>\n

The left lane ends and the right lane ends sign :<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

As the name suggests, the \u2018Left lane ends\u2019 sign and its twin indicate that the road that you\u2019re travelling on is due to end up ahead and merge with the other lane. The left lane merges with the right and vice versa. This is essentially a road hazard sign which allows drivers to slow down before the roads merge.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Stop ahead sign :<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This sign simply warns that there is a stop sign ahead, and allows the driver ample time to step on the brakes and avoid accidents due to sudden halting.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the name suggests, this sign essentially means that the driver should be prepared to stop and give way to another vehicle entering or coming in from another approach at the intersection to avoid collisions. The driver who stops to let another pass, has yielded the right of way.<\/span><\/p>\n

This sign indicates that there is a narrow bridge approaching and the driver needs to slow down and watch out for oncoming vehicles. This averts any potential accidents.<\/span><\/p>\n

As is apparent from the name and the image, this road hazard sign is used to warn motorists about imminent rough road conditions. It gives them time to slow down before it\u2019s too late.<\/span><\/p>\n
