A Nairobi woman, Delilah Akoth Omondi, known as Adelle Omondi, has shared a harrowing experience of being drugged and robbed while traveling to Mombasa on a Mash Bus on April 14. The incident has sparked concerns about passenger safety and the lack of cooperation from institutions in aiding criminal investigations.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Adelle\u2019s Traumatic Ordeal<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\nAdelle boarded a Mash Bus in Nairobi, occupying seat number 37. A middle-aged man, initially seated elsewhere, later took the seat next to her. The journey proceeded uneventfully until the bus stopped at Mtito Andei, where the man briefly left and returned with two cups of tea. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cHe kept spilling tea on me and insisted I hold the cups,\u201d Adelle recounted. That was the last moment she remembers before waking up disoriented at Coast General Hospital. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
Medical staff informed her that she had been brought in by a Mash Bus conductor and a boda boda rider after passing out. To her dismay, all her belongings\u2014cash, phone, and other valuables\u2014were stolen.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Stolen Items and Uncooperative Institutions<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\nInvestigations revealed that money was withdrawn from Adelle\u2019s account at Mwembe Tayari and sent to a number registered under the name \u201cRamadhan.\u201d However, Mash Bus Company has reportedly refused to disclose the identity of the man seated next to her, hindering the investigation. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
Adelle\u2019s attempts to obtain official hospital documentation from Coast General to support her case were met with reluctance, further complicating her efforts to file a formal complaint. She has since recorded a statement at Mombasa Central Police Station and obtained an Occurrence Book (OB) number.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Disturbing Aftermath<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\nUpon returning home, Adelle discovered her underwear was missing and experienced physical pain, raising fears of possible sexual assault. \u201cI\u2019m not blaming Mash or Coast General for what happened,\u201d she said. \u201cBut their refusal to cooperate with the investigation is frustrating.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
