Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai has finally come out to address the much-talked about issue of public leaders being entitled to special clearance on roads and highways during traffic snarl-ups.<\/span><\/p>\n

Category 1<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

IG Mutyambai, in a directive issued on Wednesday said the first category of VIPs liable for such kind of treatment include the President, Deputy President, as well as the First Lady.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cabinet Secretaries for Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs as well as the Interior Principal Secretary also fall within this first category.<\/span><\/p>\n

Below is the complete list of the other VIPs:<\/span><\/p>\n

Category 2<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Chief of Defence Forces<\/span><\/p>\n

The Service Commanders of Defence Forces<\/span><\/p>\n

The Inspector General National Police Service<\/span><\/p>\n

The Deputy Inspector General-Kenya Police Service<\/span><\/p>\n

The Deputy Inspector General-Administration Police Service<\/span><\/p>\n

Category 3<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Speaker of the National Assembly<\/span><\/p>\n

The Speaker of the Senate<\/span><\/p>\n

The Majority leader of the National Assembly<\/span><\/p>\n

Category 4<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Retired Presidents<\/span><\/p>\n

Retired Prime Minister<\/span><\/p>\n

Category 5<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Ambulances<\/span><\/p>\n

Fire Brigade<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the IG, any other vehicles will require authority by officers in charge of traffic in respective regions on special cases.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAll other vehicles including Government registered vehicles (GK) are expected to follow the normal traffic flow,\u201d reads the statement.<\/span><\/p>\n
