Many weeks ago local insurance company put up a notice in the dailies announcing that due to scarcity and cost of parts it would no longer offer comprehensive cover for some models. among them Honda HRV, Crossroad, CR-Z and Insight, Suzuki Swift, Alto and Escudo, six models of Mazda, all models of Daihatsu, Subaru Exiga, all Renault models, seven models of Toyota including Prius (hybrid) and Opa among others, as well as Ford Escape and all models of Hyundai. Occidental Insurance has excluded some car models from underwriting due to unavailability of their spare parts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The insurer, through a notice to all business partners dated February 14, 2019, states that spare parts of these vehicles have become rare and obsolete posing a challenge when settling claims.<\/span><\/p>\n

The letter from the insurer lists Honda HRV, Crossroad, CR-Z and Insight, Suzuki Swift, Alto and Escudo, six models of Mazda, all models of Daihatsu, Subaru Exiga, all Renault models, seven models of Toyota including Prius (hybrid) and Opa among others, as well as Ford Escape and all models of Hyundai.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the insurer, all vehicles covered on a comprehensive basis shall be converted to Third Party only upon renewals.<\/span><\/p>\n
