{"id":6069,"date":"2020-10-24T16:44:53","date_gmt":"2020-10-24T13:44:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.magaripoa.com\/?p=6069"},"modified":"2023-06-06T09:53:17","modified_gmt":"2023-06-06T06:53:17","slug":"rachel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.magaripoa.com\/gari\/rachel\/","title":{"rendered":"First lady Rachel Ruto Cycles in Nairobi CBD and all the way to Karen @KenyanTraffic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">The wife of President William Ruto, <strong>Rachel Ruto<\/strong> joined cyclists during a ride in Nairobi County.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">Mrs. Ruto took part in the weekly event organized by\u00a0Spin Kings Kenya\u00a0which attracted almost 100 riders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">The organization team manager\u00a0<strong>Jojo Asin<\/strong>\u00a0mentioned that the Saturday ride was for beginners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">He also mentioned that Rachel Ruto was the special guest and it was a pleasant surprise. Mrs. Ruto completed the whole circuit that was roughly 37 KM.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">The cyclists gathered\u00a0at Garden Square in CBD before embarking on the ride through GPO, Waiyaki Way, Westlands Links\u00a0Road, Red Hill Road, Limuru road and Northern Bypass.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">The riders later branched into Kiambu Road before heading onto Thika Superhighway to\u00a0Garden City\u00a0and back on\u00a0Murang\u2019a road, Globe roundabout, University Way and later concluded at\u00a0the starting point.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">Organizers disclosed that Rachel Ruto cycled back home after completing\u00a0the route adding that the route was selected to give the best experience and challenge the cyclists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">Asin, an organizer said that they had taken measures to guarantee the safety of the cyclists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">He explained that they had chase cars and marshals comprising of elite cyclists who sandwich the beginners guiding and protecting them through traffic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">Asin added that traffic police had also been very helpful in guiding traffic to give cyclists way.\u00a0He however noted that they had\u00a0challenges with careless drivers of both personal cars and matatus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">He stated that they were working to have laws that\u00a0protect vulnerable road users on Kenyan roads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">Rachel Ruto has founded a\u00a0cycling club known as\u00a0<em>Mama Cycling\u00a0<\/em>where she encourages everyone to take up physical activity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">She urges Kenyans to\u00a0engage in cycling\u00a0as it gives someone a good mood.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">In one social media post he stated that cycling gives her an opportunity to see more of our beautiful country as well as stay in good shape.
