World Day Of Remembrance for road traffic victims commemorated on November 15, 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

The theme for the event\u00a0is Remember Support Act.<\/span><\/p>\n

NTSA has asked Kenyans to join in at the Ndumberi Stadium in Kiambu county in remembering those who have lost their lives in tragic road accidents.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Join us on November 15, 2020, for this year’s World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, at the Ndumberi Stadium, Kiambu County as we remember those killed or injured in road accidents and stand with their families and all those affected by the scourge,” NTSA said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims takes place on the third Sunday in November every year as the appropriate acknowledgement of victims of road traffic crashes and their families.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was started by the British road crash victim charity,\u00a0Road Peace, in 1993 and was adopted by the\u00a0United Nations General Assembly\u00a0in 2005.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the United Nations, road traffic crashes are a major cause of death among all age groups and the leading cause of death for children and young adults aged 5\u201329 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

The risk of dying in a road traffic crash is more than three times higher in low-income countries than in high-income countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

The day has become an important tool in global efforts to reduce road casualties.<\/span><\/p>\n

It offers an opportunity for drawing attention to the scale of the emotional and economic devastation caused by road crashes and for giving recognition to the suffering of road crash victims and the work of support and rescue services.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Urgent action remains imperative. On this World Day, I call on all to join forces to address the global road safety crisis,” Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres said.<\/span><\/p>\n
