Funeral service of Chris Nderitu , the disabled man killed by a VIP convoy in Nyeri county last Saturday near the Sagana state lodge was temporally disrupted when a group of those in attendance demanded political leaders address them.<\/span><\/p>\n

The youth wanted Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura and nominated MP David Ole Sankok who had attended the funeral to get a chance to speak before the body was laid to rest as the priest had requested.<\/span><\/p>\n

When they got the chance, the leaders condemned those involved in the accident that killed Nderitu and called on those responsible to compensate the family, threatening to stage demonstrations to compel the State to take action.<\/span><\/p>\n

Police spokesman Charles Owino on Thursday said he is unaware of who the government-registered high-end vehicles were released to on the day of the accident that killed the 45-year-old man leaving his kin distraught.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately I had not found out as at the time I came here on whether the vehicle has been identified. But I hope when I go back I will find out,\u201d said the police spokesperson.<\/span><\/p>\n

Owino says investigations are underway to ensure justice for the bereaved family.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe family should rest assured that we shall follow procedures strictly no matter which vehicle was involved in crushing the person,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

The deceased; 45-year-old Chris Ndiritu, left his home on Saturday morning to accompany one of his relatives to the local shopping centre, but a few paces from their home, at a road bump, tragedy struck.<\/span><\/p>\n

The victim was on a wheelchair, a fact he believed was enough to keep the drivers on their lane.<\/span><\/p>\n

The accident is said to have occurred after one of the vehicles tried to overtake the others in the convoy.<\/span><\/p>\n

The family has since recorded a statement with the police in Nyeri awaiting investigations.<\/span><\/p>\n
