The dead bodies were taken to the coast general hospital morgue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">Coast region traffic commandant Peter Maina traffic confirmed that the three people, two men and a woman, died on the spot while 5 others sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">&#8220;Three people including the driver perished, the driver lost control and rolled down from his lane to collide with a canter that was on the other lane,&#8221; said Maina.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">The matatu involved in the accident is owned by Makueni Transporters Sacco, MATCO.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">According to Abdalla Mohamed, an eye witness, the\u00a0<em>matatu<\/em>\u00a0driver was on a phone call before he lost control. He says this is the fourth time an accident is happening along the course way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">&#8220;If there could be rails to protect the vehicle, maybe it could not have rolled. We wish the government to install protection pillars to avert a similar kind of accident in future,&#8221; said Mohamed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">The Makupa causeway is under construction where the government is planning to erect a bridge.
