{"id":7812,"date":"2024-12-22T11:40:08","date_gmt":"2024-12-22T08:40:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.magaripoa.com\/?p=7812"},"modified":"2024-12-22T11:40:08","modified_gmt":"2024-12-22T08:40:08","slug":"nissan-serena-and-a-lorry-involved-in-a-head-on-collision-killing-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.magaripoa.com\/gari\/nissan-serena-and-a-lorry-involved-in-a-head-on-collision-killing-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Nissan Serena and a lorry involved in a head-on collision killing 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">Five people have perished and four others sustained serious injuries in a grisly road accident at Mwembeni in Samburu within Kinango sub-county along the Mombasa-Voi highway.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">The accident involved a lorry and private vehicle make Nissan Serena that went head-on-collision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">The Nissan had carried nine passengers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">Among the dead are three children between the age of six months to six years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">Kinango sub-county police commander Fredrick Ombaka said the lorry was traveling from Voi to Mombasa and the Nissan from Mombasa to Nairobi when the accident occurred.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">It said the transit lorry was overtaking another vehicle before colliding with the oncoming private Nissan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">\u201cThe heavy commercial vehicle was speeding to pass a car that was in front of it but unfortunately the driver had miscalculated the distance and hit the personal Nissan on its right,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">The Nissan driver died on the spot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">Police identified the dead as; Erick Omondi Otieno,36, Esther Akinyi Omullo, 32, Marylne Otieno Omondi,6, Judith Aicho Omondi,4, and Biden Lukas Omondi six months old.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">The dead were taken to Kinango mortuary and the injured rushed to Samburu hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">Some were referred to Mombasa for specialized treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">Ombaka advised motorists to be extra careful while on roads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">Source: <a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"http:\/\/www.the-star.co.ke\"><strong>Nyota<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #000000\">Source: <strong><a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"http:\/\/www.the-star.co.ke\">Nyota<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Five people have perished and four others sustained serious injuries in a grisly road accident at Mwembeni in Samburu within Kinango sub-county along the Mombasa-Voi highway. &nbsp; The accident involved a lorry and private vehicle make Nissan Serena that went head-on-collision.
