While announcing its opening for public usage in May, authorities said that damages on the Ksh73.5 billion worth Nairobi Expressway by motorists will invite hefty fines.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Here are some of the fines for motorists who damage property on the expressway.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1. Damage to the cantilever variable information board \u2013 Ksh. 8.8 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2. Damage to the ticket issuing machine \u2013 Ksh. 1.9 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3. Damage to the vehicle type scanner \u2013 Ksh. 2.4 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

4. Damage to the toll booth \u2013 Between Ksh. 1.32 million and 1.8 million<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

5. Damage to the camera in the toll collection plaza \u2013 Ksh. 600,000.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

6. Damage to a streetlight will \u2013 Between Ksh. 143,000 and Ksh. 262,000, depending on the type of light.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

7. Graffiti fine \u2013 Ksh. 2,362<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

8. Damage to concrete pavement \u2013 Ksh. 6,592<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

9. Scratches on the pavement \u2013 Ksh. 2,362)<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

10. Damage to guardrails \u2013 Ksh. 45,348<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

11. Damage to signboards \u2013 Between Ksh. 34,547 to Ksh. 81,120.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

12. Damage to culverts \u2013 Ksh. 45,365<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

13. Parking fees for vehicles involved in an accident \u2013 up-to Ksh. 900 depending on the type of the car and hours <\/span><\/p>\n

spent on the highway.<\/span><\/p>\n

14. Hoisting fees and towing fees for stalled cars on the highway will be as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Class 3 vehicles<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Hoisting fee \u2013 Ksh. 32,000<\/span><\/p>\n

Towing fee \u2013 Between Ksh.4,000 and Ksh.12,000<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Class 4 vehicles<\/strong><\/span>
\nHoisting fee \u2013 Ksh. 40,000<\/span><\/p>\n

Towing fee \u2013 Between Ksh. 6,000 and Ksh. 17,000<\/span><\/p>\n

Class 5 vehicles<\/strong><\/span>
\nHoisting fee \u2013 Ksh. 50,000<\/span><\/p>\n

Towing fee \u2013 Between Ksh. 10,500 and Ksh. 23,000<\/span><\/p>\n
