Thika superhighway came to a standstill with heavy traffic resulting from a construction truck that overturned on the road.
The snarl up affected all traffic getting into and out of the CBD through the busy highway.
A concrete mixer truck overturned at Wangari Maathai Road, previously known as Forest Road, near Shell Petrol Station. The ripple effect saw heavy traffic jam extend all the way as far back as Roysambu.
The truck completely blocked the highway. Traffic cops responded promptly but the progress is still very slow.
Motorists from Roysambu heading to town through Ngara are still stuck in traffic.
Some motorists have been stuck at the same spot since 8 some of which are delivering perishable products to different customers across the city.
Others who were lucky to proceed by using alternative routes says it took them over two hours to get to work for a journey that normally takes less than an hour.
Motorist using adjacent feeder roads have also been affected.
