A KWS pilot has died after his helicopter crashed in Isinya, Kajiado County on Thursday.

Isinya police boss Kinyua Mugambi confirmed the incident, saying that the helicopter had two occupants at the time of the crash.

Police said the helicopter caught fire after crash-landing.

 

 

KWS acting corporate communication manager Paul Jinaro has also confirmed the incident.

Jinaro said the deceased was a trainee.

“Today KWS is sad to confirm we, unfortunately, suffered an aircraft accident at 07.38a m that resulted in one fatality and the loss of the aircraft. The accident involved an AutoGyro aircraft model MTOsport2010 registered 5Y-KWV,” a Kenya Civil Aviation Authority official said.

 

 

The accident occurred at Orly Airpark during routine training exercises.

“A thorough investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the accident. We convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved,” the official said.
