For you to convert any car. Example a land rover. You will need to take out everything in the engine bay and throw it away. Except the brake master cylinder. Now let me break it down . Electric cars are a one speed automobile. Hence the torque. You make power from 1rpm to infinity.
Now for an LR you throw away the gearbox you won’t need it motors have a forward n reverse its just changing then phases (to mean you can reverse the car at 200kph. Really cool But you will need to adapt your transfer box to the motor.
For context and electric motor is the size of a small bucket or a sufuria. That’s simple. .because of this there’s a lot of space in the engine bay. You’ll put your batteries here. A lot of them. Anywhere between 100_7000 depending on chemistry. But batteries Is a whole new conversion on its own . Let’s talk support. Because your car no longer has the engine .you will need an electric power steering system . Electric vacuum pump for the brakes Adapt the gauges to show what the motor is doing(software).
Design the chassis to carry the new battery boxes motor and ancillaries. Run wires-about 100 different that do different things. Safety. You will need two switches. An emergency switch those huge red ones incase of anything .this cuts power from the battery.
Now weight will be your biggest enemy .you can’t just place a lump of 500kgs in front. You have to distribute it. You’ll have to do strength and stress analysis on the chassis to know how to distribute it properly to make it drivable.
Most ev have something called a skateboard design_ the batteries are placed under the vehicle seats to distribute the weight. For normally cars this would mean cut the whole bottom for this. And weld it properly .. It’s a whole mess.
For an ev conversion You need skilled Fabricators, Hardware, Software, Mechanical Designers. Automotive engineers Who will need to work together to achieve a successful EV swap.
