In 2003 a group of Kenyan cabinet ministers were in a light aircraft heading to Nairobi from Western Kenya. Mid-way it developed engine problems started losing altitude and needed emergency landing. All was quiet in the passenger cabin until the pilot announced that they would be crash-landing. Immediately an assistant minister began to yell, “I’m dying, I’m dying”. This was even before the aircraft began the rapid descent. The air-hostess tried to calm him down but he was inconsolable. The plane crash landed in the wilderness at a clearing. There was no flame or extensive damage in the cabin. When the dust settled, all except one walked out of that wreckage unassisted. One or two individuals had a bruise here or a scratch there. The yelling minister died on the spot. There were no physical injuries on his body. Being a Muslim he was buried the following day and a postmortem was never conducted. Was he killed by psychological shock or an internal injury? We may never find out.
