Players of a volleyball men’s team that was to play in the second leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League was involved in an accident along Kiawara road in Laikipia County.
The driver was heading towards Nanyuki from Bungoma for the KVF league matches, when he lost control and landed in a ditch.
Six players were seriously injured with 12 others escaping with minor injuries. They were rushed to different hospitals in Laikipia County where they are recuperating.
“Their extensively damaged motor vehicle has been towed to the police station. Investigations have alredy commenced into the cause of the accident,” the police said in a statement.
The players were set to play with the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF), Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and Prisons Mombasa in Nanyuki Stadium. These matches have since been cancelled.
