Cathy Mutuku has narrated how, together with her friends lost car after getting drunk.

She posted on her Facebook page;

“So yesterday when I posted that I have been sober for 8 years someone asked me what’s one thing I regret doing while drunk. Here’s my story.

During Easter holiday of 2014, one of my friends had a Noah. We fuelled the car and drove to Mombasa for the weekend. We were staying at some apartments in Nyali. In the evening we decide to go to Mombasa town for a few drinks.

We left the bar at around 3 in the morning. We forgot that we had a car and waked back to our apartment. Thankfully, we arrived safely. We were all very drunk and everyone collapsed on the bed and immediately blacked out.

The following day we woke up hungry and sober. My friend went down stairs to pick something from the car couldn’t find the vehicle at the parking lot. She ran back screaming, wondering who drove off with her her car yet she still had the car keys with her. No one had left we are all in.

We when to the security at the gate and they explained that we had left with the car the previous day but came back of foot. At that moment we vaguely recall that we when to Mombasa. None of us remember were we went, how many clubs we visited , or the last place we went.

e got back to apartment had breakfast and quickly called a taxi to help us find the clubs in Mombasa where we could have parked the car the previous night. Our search was unsuccessful so we had to go to the police.

At the police station, we mentioned the name of a certain club we visited. Reason being the waiter said she remembers seeing us at the place. They have no CCTV cameras, the police spoke to several people but the car could not be found.

Disillusioned, we boarded a night bus back to Nairobi. Throughout the journey, no one spoke a word. We just looked at each other suspiciously. It was at that moment I took a bold step and decided to quit drinking for good.

To this day the car has never been recovered”
