Fire engine crashes as it responds to emergency on Christmas day in Nyeri

One person has been seriously injured in an accident involving a fire engine belonging Nyeri County government. The accident occurred near Muringato in Nyeri Town on the Nyeri-Nyahururu highway.

The fire fighters were responding to a fire emergency in Mweiga when the driver lost control of the vehicle before it crashed at a round 8pm.

The responders on board were rushed to Nyeri County Referral Hospital for treatment, one of them in critical condition. 

Nyeri Central Sub County Police Commander Pual Kuria confirmed the accident but he could not, however, confirm the actual number of casualties.

“We have officers responding to the accident but we still do not have a full casualty report,” Mr Kuria said.
