Martha Koome the Chief Justice enjoys services of a chase car and road clearance privileges

Lady Justice Martha Koome is set to earn a basic salary of Ksh 990,000 with allowances that could see her take home up to Ksh1.3 million every month.

The process of installing Koome as Kenya’s first female Chief Justice became reality when she was sworn in after President Uhuru Kenyatta having forwarded her name to the National Assembly for approval following the JSC interviews.

Koome will is entitled to a house, provided by the Judiciary in Runda, but can choose to reside at her own home just like her predecessor David Maraga, who chose to live in Karen.

Justice Koome is also the beneficiary of a Ksh 10 million inpatient insurance scheme with an outpatient cover of Ksh 300,000.

The medical insurance covers the CJ, her spouse, and up to four children under the age of 25 years – and who depend on her.

Koome also has 2 official cars, a Toyota Landcruiser 200 series and Mercedes Benz. 

Police IG Hillary Mutyambai ensures a security team to guard her and her residences at all times.

The judge is never subjected to Nairobi’s notorious traffic jam because she is accorded a chase car and given road clearance privileges. 

As a Judge of the Court of Appeal, Koome’s pay was between  Ksh 600,000 and Ksh 900,000.
