K24 journalist Ian Wafula is a man at a loss after he was allegedly duped into trading his Toyota Axio for a VW Jetta at a car bazaar in Nairobi only for the latter to be impounded by the dreaded Flying Squad officers over double ownership.

According to Wafula, the saga began after he went to a car Bazaar along Ngong Rd reportedly owned by one Collins Bootsy Muraya where he traded his Axio for the Jetta whose ownership is under probe.

Wafula says he paid the agreed amount to Collins only to later learn after over a year that the Bazaar owner vanished into the thin air without remitting the amount to the original Jetta owner.

He added that original Jetta owner in turn sold the car to a different buyer after Collins vanished and changed the Jetta’s ownership while he, Wafula, was still in possession of the car.

“Very often social pressure and expectations force us to hide behind our jobs; that our lives are perfect, free of baggage. NO.

“It has been a depressing couple of months after a car I owned for a whole year become subject of investigations…

“Police suspect foul play but until investigations are done all I have are many unanswered questions…” Wrote Wafula.

This comes just days after a city businessman was charged in court for defrauding another K24 news anchor, Eric Njoka, of Sh 850,000 while masquerading as a car dealer.

Gaspae Omondi Kwedho was accused of claiming he could sell Eric a Toyota Mark X car after he met the anchor along Kijabe Street, to discuss the sale on 30th December.

The anchor, however, realized he was being conned and alerted the police before the deal was sealed.
