In a rare occurrence, President William Ruto on Sunday drove himself to the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), where the African Youth Climate Summit is ongoing.

The Head of State drove an electric vehicle to the summit, with other cars in his motorcade also being electric.

Ruto’s presence in KICC marks an end to the African Youth Climate Summit, where he received a declaration from the youths.

The youth declaration calls for the establishment of an assembly for coordinating youth climate governance, a global green bank to represent youth interests.

The group also lobbies for a UN youth office to be domiciled in Africa. Additionally, they want to be included in decision-making on climate issues on the global stage.

The Africa Climate Summit will take place from September 4 and September 6, and several African Heads of State will be in attendance.
