Toyota IST review

Toyota IST was released for sale in May 2002 as a new type 2-BOX car. The main target of IST was young people and the concept was “Toyota IST for your 1st”, to provide “the greatest compact car for mobility life”.

  The characteristics of Toyota IST was its style. IST adopts a wide front grille, wheel archs protruded at the four corners and large 15?inch tires. These features intergrade the sense of activity and high quality of SUV. The interior of IST is simple and dynamic, which is achieved by combining the horizontal / vertical basic configuration with rounding of front and rear parts.

  Toyota IST has compact body, but its indoor space is comfortable enough to accommodate 4 people. The area around instrumental panel, door trim and heater control panel contains metallic decoration, which provides the interior with sense of unity and high quality. The meter device is installed in the center, minimizing the eye movement and providing higher visual performance. Storage space is very substantial. The car is equipped with 6:4 split and collapsible rear seats, rear 2-way deck under tray (for FF model) and multi-use car storage box with lighting.
 

Toyota IST has engine types of 1.5 liter and 1.3 liter in-line 4?cylinder DOHC BEAMS engine with the combination of 4?speed AT called the Super ECT.

  The driving system can either be FF or flex full time 4WD for 1.5 litre model. The vehicle is also equipped with various safety equipment such as dual SRS airbag, ABS, brake assist function etc. For certain grades, discharge head lamps are adopted as its standard equipment to increases the visibility at night time.

  There was a minor change for Toyota IST in May 2015, in which interior, exterior and technical equipment were improved.
