Whenever a police officer flags you down, you begin to panic wondering what your offence might be. Other times you just realize that you are not carrying your driving license and end up paying hefty bribes due to intimidation and ignorance.

The cop tells you that if he takes you to court the fine will be Ksh 25,000 if the judge is kind; but since you don’t know the law you settle for a ksh 5,000 kitu kidogo to appease the officer. In real sense if you went to court the fine is ksh 1,000 only.
