Video of a Githurai bus overturning in the middle of Thika Road

CCTV footage showed a bus overturning along the Thika Superhighway.

The accident took place  near the Survey underpass and from the video, the driver seems to have lost control of the bus just before negotiating a corner.

The bus swerves from side to side before hitting the traffic barrier and overturning.

Staff from the nearby Total Petrol Station quickly rush to the scene of the accident and assist trapped passengers.

The bus is believed to ply the Nairobi-Githurai route.

St John’s Ambulance Spokesman Fred Majiiwa confirmed the incident saying that the bus suddenly overturned near Rosters. He said the number of people injured in the accident is yet to be established.

However, St John Ambulance rescuers are at the scene and are in the process of evacuating victims to the nearest hospitals.

For a while now, Thika road users have complained of reckless driving of Githurai buses which often bully smaller cars, especially during rush hour.

Videos of speeding buses have often been shared online and relevant authorities have been asked to step in and arrest careless drivers who put lives of passengers at risk.
